MS SQL Server 2000 / 2005/2008 Database

Microsoft SQL Server is a robust enterprise caliber relational database server capable of supporting the most demanding web applications.

SQL Server 2005/2008 databases may be added to your account as an optional extra for just £6 +vat per month 50MB database space.

You will have full db_owner control over your own database and the ability to log into and administer your database remotely using Enterprise Manager (SQL 2000), SQL Server Management Studio, Visual Studio 2005/2008 or any other SQL Server 2005/2008 compatible administration tool.

SSL Shared Certificate

Your hosting account optionally includes the use of a shared 128-bit SSL certificate to allow you to safely accept sensitive information such as a visitors credit card details.

The secure domain will be mapped via a virtual directory to a folder within your account and any files you upload to this folder will be available via a https:// secured URL in the form of :

https://secure11.host-it.co.uk/domain-name-co-uk/

Individual SSL Certificate

If your site needs it's own SSL certificate, we can obtain and install an SSL certificate on your account for an ongoing fee starting at £39.95+vat per annum and £35 +VAT setup.

The certificate would be installed on your domain providing 128-bit SSL encryption on https://www.*yourdomain*

The SSL certificates that we utilise are provided by Comodo, one of the world’s largest digital certificate providers, the certificates offer true 128-bit encryption and are compatible with 99% of web browsers.

Low Cost Domain Name Registration

Hosting accounts must have a domain name associated with them, this can be an existing domain name that you already own or a new domain name that we register on your behalf.

Order your DotNetted hosting account annually and you'll receive two months hosting free of charge.

When completing the order form choose to pay annually and we'll charge you the equivalent of just 10 months hosting to cover 12 months.

Account Setup / Activation

Setup of your hosting account is free of charge and accounts are typically up and running within 3 to 4 hours of payment being received.

Once your hosting account is set up it'll take approximately 24 hours for your new / transferred domain name to propagate and become live on the new account.

To combat this initial waiting period when creating your new account we also map to it a temporary web and FTP address so that you can begin uploading your files and testing your web site immediately.

Additional Domain Alias

Aliases can be used where you have multiple domain names that need to be pointed at a single hosting account, e.g. you may own both the .com and .co.uk versions of your domain and wish to allow visitors to view your web site and send you e-mail using both domains.

Domain Aliases can be added to your account for a one off set up fee of £10 +vat.

If the domain to be aliased is a new domain registered through DotNetted then aliasing will be set up at a reduced rate of £5 +vat.

IIS6 or IIS 7 web hosting

With Windows 2003 / IIS 6 and the .Net framework hosting on the Microsoft platform really came of age - with Windows 2008 / IIS 7 .Net support has been extended still further.

If your web site is developed primarily using html, Classic ASP or the .Net 1.1 framework or if your site requires Frontpage Extensions you should choose a Windows 2003 / IIS 6 account.

If you are developing pure .Net applications using .Net 2.0 or above you should choose a Windows 2008 / IIS 7 account - Windows 2008 / IIS 7 accounts do not support the .Net 1.1 framework or Frontpage Extensions.

Application and User Isolation

For the best possible reliability each site runs as a separate IIS application. With IIS isolation each application has it's own IIS process and memory allocation and problems in the code of one customers site won't affect other sites.

Also, to ensure account security all DotNetted accounts run under a unique anonymous user tied to their application and the account filespace is explicitly protected by NTFS security so only the account holder has access to their files.

All documents that have the .asp extension will be processed as an ASP document and your hosting account includes full support for ASP version 3.0

Your hosting account fully supports Dreamweaver using both the ASP classic and Asp.Net server behaviours, and a sizeable percentage of our clients are Dreamweaver users.

Your hosting account supports Visual Studio .Net, Microsoft's professional application development suite.

FrontPage Compatible

Microsoft Frontpage is one of the leading web site design and development tools and is supported by our Windows 2003 / IIS 6 based hosting accounts.

Frontpage Extensions allow you to publish your webs to your hosting account directly from your Frontpage software.

When ordering your hosting account if you wish to use the Frontpage extensions to publish your account be sure to order a Windows 2003 / IIS 6 based account as Frontpage is not supported on Windows 2008 / IIS 7 servers.

Bandwidth / Data Transfer

Each time a visitor views one of your pages the files that make up the page are transferred from our servers to the visitors machine for display in their browser.

DotNetted hosting accounts include as standard 10 GB of data transfer per month, with a typical web page size of around 50 KB this allows your site to serve approximately 200,000 page views per month.

Should you ever reach the limit of your allotment extra bandwidth can be added as required.

Web Space

Web space is the physical space on our servers dedicated for use by your account, by default this is 1000 MB of space.

A typical web page comes in at around 50 KB which means you can store approximately 20,000 individual pages in your 1000 MB allotment.

pop3 / imap mailboxes

Your hosting account includes 100 mailboxes, 250 MB of e-mail storage space plus unlimited e-mail forwarding aliases.

Mail can be retrieved using any pop3 standards compliant e-mail client (Outlook, Outlook Express, Pegasus mail etc.). Mailboxes also support imap which can be useful when you're on the move with mobile devices / phones.

You also have access to your mailboxes via our webMail service so you can access your mail from anywhere that you can use a web browser.

Advanced WebMail Service

Your hosting account offers access to your e-mail via both a regular pop3 / imap client and our webmail service.

The webmail service includes advanced features such as an address book and spell checking.

If you're currently having to use Hotmail or a similar service to pick up your mail when you're on the move you can now have the same benefits but with your own e-mail accounts and domain.

E-Mail Virus Checking

The last couple of years have seen a massive increase in the number of viruses / worms competing to infect your PC(s).

Many of these viruses / worms now use e-mail as their main means of distribution and scanning your e-mail has become essential if you are to avoid infection.

All incoming e-mail destined for our customers mailboxes is scanned by Trend Micro's Server Protect and any mail found to be infected is cleaned or deleted as required. Trend Micro are one of the most respected names in the world for virus scanning and PC security.

Configurable Spam Filtering

Spam is the bane of every Internet users life, it is estimated that currently at least 70% of all mail transferred across the Internet is spam.

Our mail software includes user configurable spam filtering - the mail server checks each piece of incoming mail using a number of tests and against publicly available spammer lists and assigns each piece of mail a score.

You can then configure your mail account at domain or individual mailbox level to perform actions on incoming mail dependant on the individual score of each mail - such as moving suspect mail to a spam folder or deleting outright.

Advanced Visitor Statistics

All hosting accounts include full, graphical statistics provided by our SmarterStats software.

SmarterStats offers in depth reporting of everything that you could possibly need to know about the visitors to your site and what they did and looked at once on your site.

Reports cover : number of visitors, how referred, pages viewed, bandwidth, files downloaded, search engines, search phrases / keywords, visitor location and much, much more.

You can also create your own custom reports.

Access Databases

DotNetted hosting accounts include the ability to upload and connect to Microsoft Access databases within your web site.

A database backend to your site allows you to add dynamic features such as forums, guest books, shopping carts and much more transforming your site from a static 'brochure' site to a dynamic live site.
